MAT May 2015: Registration process to begin in the first week of March

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a standardised test being administered since 1988 to facilitate Business Schools (B-Schools) to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programmes. Govt. of India, Ministry of HRD approved MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School – national or international – can consider MAT Score as an admission input based on the Score Cards issued to the candidates. The largest test of its kind in the nation, MAT will continue to be your passport to over 600 B-Schools across India.

The official notification for Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for the May 2015 session has been released on the website. The paper based test is scheduled to take place on May 3, whereas the computer based exam will be held on May 9. The application process for the same is meant to begin in the first week of March and will conclude on April 21, 2015.
Candidates who have completed their graduation are eligible to sit for this exam. Final year students in the graduation course are also eligible to apply for the exam.
The test is held for admissions to various MBA and allied programmes by over 600 B schools across the nation. MAT is held four times in a year, in the months of February, May, September and December.
The exam paper will cover topics from following sections:
Language Comprehension;
Mathematical Skills;
Data Analysis and Sufficiency;
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning;
Indian and Global Environment.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has published the exam centre information for private candidates appearing Class 10 and Class 12 Board exams for the 2015 session.

The traditional terms craftsman and craftswoman are nowadays often replaced by artisan and rarely by craftsperson (craftspeople).

For the very first time, of its kind initiative the Kashmir University has launched a Master’s programme, a university recognized professional course, to develop human resources for the craft sector in the state. The Masters in Craft Management and Entrepreneurship (MCME) programme was launched yesterday by Commissioner Secretary Industries and commerce, Shantmanu, at a function at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). The programme has been envisioned by the Craft Development Institute (CDI) Srinagar and recognized by the University of Kashmir.

Shantmanu expressed, “hope that the MCME programme would prove most rewarding and provide career opportunities to the graduates as trained craft entrepreneurs, managers, merchandisers and trainers (resources persons), in private as well as Government sectors. HE also encouraged students of the first batch to become entrepreneurs after completing the degree. Director CDI MS Farooqi said “MCME is an effort to create a motivated and professionally trained human resource for overall development of the craft sector. Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Professor Shabir Ahmad Bhat said “MCME is a degree as good as other MBA programmes and University of Kashmir is committed to provide all logistic support to the MBA students of the CDI”. CBSE New Courses Food Production & Travel and Tourism

The CBSE (Central Board Of Secondary Education) is all set to introduce two new courses. One, a vocational course in Food Production and the other in Travel and Tourism. Food production includes food and beverage services, front office management, bakery and confectionery and travel and tourism under Hospitality and Tourism Sectors from the next academic year onwards. It is a five-skill based courses in tourism and hospitality from the academic year 2013-14.

In the upcoming years, India is very likely to see an increase in strength of domestic as well as international tourists, because based on the recent stats around 50 lakh tourists came to India every year. By this, the annual demand for trained manpower in hotels and restaurants is approximately 2.03 lakh per year. These courses will be taught to students of class 11 and 12. Here, students will be able to opt for one language and two academic subjects related to the field as per their interests.

The initiative has been taken after the Central government’s constant emphasis on development of employability skills. Appreciating the move, CBSE co-ordinator Jawaid Alam Khan said that “The new courses will held students who want to foray beyond engineering, medical and other conventional fields and are inclined towards tourism and hospitality industry. But, the board and the schools should pursue it strongly.” Moreover, CBSE will facilitate support to its allied schools offering Food Production and Food & Beverage Services courses by arranging mentor institutes like Institutes of Hotel Management that are under the National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology.

AICTE & UGC Forces To Offer Cyber Security Courses

Based on today’s world and cyber crime incidents taking place, the AICTE (All India Council Of Technical Education) and UGC(University Grants Commission) are forcing all technical colleges and universities to introduce Cyber Security Courses as a part of the syllabus for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. Initially, this move was recommended by a national task force that was created to assess the national security system.

The Cabinet committee on Security (CCS) set up the task force and assigned them the responsibility of reviewing the current security mechanisms in the country, including the processes, practices and procedures. Based on the review, the task force then submitted a list of recommendations to strengthen the national security system. The AICTE is mainly targeting those colleges that are expanding their courses to include information technology and computer science. It has requested them to incorporate one of the four courses on Cyber security.

The four courses includes, Cyber Security, Information Technology (Information and Cyber Welfare), Biometrics and cyber security, Cyber Forensics and Information security for Postgraduate level. AICTE officials said that all institutes have been given a deadline for the end of month to apply for the new courses. The council was confident about the response to the course at postgraduate level. Cyber security experts are in huge demand all over the world. And hence, India should leverage its advantage of having the best IT expertise.

M.Tech in Network Computing at TIST gets AICTE, CUSAT approval

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) have given approval to a new M Tech course in “Network Computing” introduced by Toc-H Institute of Science and Technology (TIST) at its Arakkunam campus.

The two-year post graduate course has been designed to cater to the growing demand for professional network engineers in various industry verticals. MICA Fellow Programme in Management: Eligibility

The Fellow Programme at MICA is the first programme of its kind in the country. It is an AICTE approved doctoral level programme offered in the communication discipline.

Eligibility for FPM

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree/equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade in any discipline of the Humanities /Social Sciences / Business Management having Communication/Journalism/Advertising/Public Relations/Media/Marketing as a subject. A three-year Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification after completing higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent should also be completed
Or
At least 55% marks or equivalent grade in Five year Integrated Masters Degree programme from any discipline of the Humanities/Social Sciences/Business Management having Communication/Journalism/Advertising/Public Relations/Media/Marketing as a subject, obtained after completing higher secondary (10+2) or equivalent.

AICTE/ Universities/ Deemed Universities must recognise the above qualification.

Foreign nationals and NRIs with non-Indian degrees that are considered equivalent (by UGC/AICTE) to the qualifications listed above are also eligible to apply for the programme.

A Foreign National is a person who is not a citizen of India.

An NRI is an Indian who as of April 2015 is working or studying or residing outside India for at least past 12 months continuously.
Final year students appearing for the Master’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, should be able to produce final mark sheet (proving that they satisfy the eligibility criteria) at the time of accepting the offer of admission failing which the offer shall automatically stand withdrawn.

UPSC CISF (ACs) Admit cards 2015 released: Important instructions

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the e-admit card for Central Industrial Security Force (ACs) Limited Department Competitive Examination, 2015. The admit cards are available on the official website.
Important Instructions for the candidates are:

The candidates should check the e-admit card carefully and bring discrepancies, if any, to the notice of UPSC immediately;
The candidates should mention their name, roll number, registration ID and name and year of the examination in all the correspondence with UPSC;
The candidates are required to bring this e-admit card and their identity card in each session to secure admission to examination hall. e-admit card may be preserved till the declaration of written result;
The candidates are responsible for safe custody of the e-admit card and in the event of any other person using this e-admit card , the onus lies on them to prove that they have not used the service of any impersonator;
The candidates should enter the examination hall 20 minutes before the scheduled commencement of the examination;
Candidates should note that any omission/mistake/discrepancy in encoding filling in details in the OMR answer sheet, especially with regard to roll number and test booklet series code, will render the answer sheet liable for rejection;
The candidates will not be admitted to the examination if they report 10 minutes after the scheduled commencement of the examination;
If the candidates appear at a centre/sub-centre other than the one indicated by the Commission in their e-admit card, their answer scripts will not be evaluated and their candidature is liable to be cancelled.
Mobile Phones, Calculators or any of the IT Gadgets are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any Infringements of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.
Answers other than those made by black ball point pen for paper-I would not be evaluated.
Candidates are advised not to bring any valuables/costly items to the examination halls, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured. The Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.
Candidates who do not have clear photographs on the e-admit card/signatures on the scannable attendance lists will have to bring a photo identity proof viz. aadhar card, driving licence, passport,voter I card etc. and two passport size photographs one for each session for appearing in the examination with an undertaking.
Candidates should appear for the exam. in their uniform and must carry their identity card with them.

IGIDR Mumbai commences admissions to M.phil/PhD programmes

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development and Research (IGIDR), Mumbai has issued admission notifications for the 2015 session. The institute is inviting applications for admission to master of philosophy and doctor of philosophy programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicants need to possess one of the following degrees:
MA/Msc in economics/M.stat/M.sc/MBA/M.tech/ME/BE/B.tch with an aggregate of 55 per cent for applicants who had economics and 60 per cent for others.
Mathematics is mandatory for higher level.
