About ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL SHILLONG MEGHALAYA
The Army Public School Shillong was established on 22 March 1983 as Army School Shillong. It was inaugurated by Mrs. SDS Yadava. It is located at the Cantonment Area of Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, known as the Scotland of the East.
At present the school is located in two campuses. Primary wing of the school (Classes I – V) is housed in the Assam type buildings near FPO of HQ 101 Area and the Senior wing of the school ( Classes VI – XII) and administrative block are housed in the Assam type and modern buildings just opposite to the SF Quarters of HQ 101 Area.
The primary aim of establishing the school is to promote academic excellence, discipline, build personal character and inculcate a high sense of values and foster national integration among children, especially those of Army personnel.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and the Affiliation No is 1380001. It prepares the students for the Secondary School Examination (Class X) and the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII). It has all the three streams, that is, Science, Commerce and Humanities at + 2 level.
The school has carved a unique niche for itself as a seat of learning. It lifted the coveted trophy for the “Best Overall Senior Secondary School” in 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 in the Eastern Command. In the field of academics, a good number of students not only have done very well in All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi but also have got admission into the various prestigious institutions in the country and abroad.
Our vision is not only to be the best in the region but also to take the school to compete with the best in the country and our mission is character building and shaping the young individuals with a human touch. We always see that children develop into social beings, communicating healthy thoughts and doing positive deeds and thus living a constructive life of a balanced citizen.
