Siang River for River Rafting
Overview Arunachal Pradesh is the eastern most state of India and largely an unexplored territory. This Siang river rafting expedition takes you on a rollercoaster ride, which runs through the upper reaches of Brahmaputra. This 11 day long rafting expedition gives you the goosebumps and the delights as well as you make your way through Garde 3 and Grade 4 rapids. Trip Highlights The rapids of Pangin The rapids of lower Ponging A river side beach on the way to upper Ponging A ferry ride back to Guwahati Itinerary Itinerary of Siang River Rafting Day 01: Guwahati to Pasighat After arrival in Guwahati, we take a bus to Pasighat. After breakfast in Pasighat, we explore the surrounding areas, including a trek to the hilltop temple. There is an overnight stay at the camp in Pasighat. Day 02: Pasighat to Yingkiong After an early morning breakfast, we hop onto our vehicles and drive to Yingkiong along the foothills of the Himalayas. There are arrangements made for an overnight camp at Yingkiong. Day 03: Yingkiong to Karko It is time to get down to some action. We start rafting, making our way through Grade III rapids. We take breaks in between to practice paddling together as a team. There is an overnight camp a little further up from Karko. Day 04: Karko to Island Camp You can look forward to the challenge, as we make our way through Pangin Rapid, a difficult Grade IV rapid. There are some grade II and grade III rapids as well for a breather, as we make our way to a basalt island for an overnight camp. Day 05: Island Camp to Boleng We make our way from Island camp to a Boleng beach, crossing confluences of Simang River and other smaller streams. There is an overnight camp at the beach. Day 06: Lower Boleng to Upper Ponging We take a rafting excursion to the upper reaches of Siyom River, and get to explore a riverside cave as well, before camping overnight in the town of Ponging. Day 07: Upper Ponging to Lower Ponging It is a short but thrilling day in the river, as we try to conquer the grade IV rapids of Ponging. There is a trip around Ponging town in the offing as well, where you get to interact with the locals. Day 08: Lower Ponging to Pasighat As our rafting expedition comes to an end, we collect all our memories and head back to Pasighat for an overnight stay at the camp. Day 09: Pasighat to Guwahati We take a ferry ride from Pasighat back to Guwahati, but not before taking a short drive through the quaint villages of Arunachal Pradesh.
