About IIMB
A 100-acre oasis in south Bengaluru, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), with its all-stone architecture, lush verdant woods and landscaped gardens, provides an idyllic environment to engage in management studies, academics and learning. IIMB has world-class infrastructure that facilitates excellence in teaching, research, consulting and other professional activities.
Located in India’s high technology capital, IIMB is in close proximity to some of the leading corporate houses in the country, ranging from information technology to consumer product companies, giving it the added advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with practical experience.
Established in 1973, the Institute has since then built on its base of highly accomplished faculty, world-class infrastructure and motivated student body to emerge as one of the premier institutes for management education and research, promoting managerial excellence in the country. IIMB strives to achieve excellence through partnerships with industry, and leading academic institutions, the world over. IIMB’s mission is to ‘build leaders through holistic, transformative and innovative education’.
The long-duration post graduate programmes of the Institute comprise the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP); the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM); the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM); the one year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), and the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), which is a doctoral programme. All these programmes are very highly rated and IIMB alumni occupy senior managerial and academic positions around the world.
IIMB has always been a hub of innovative activity and is always on the lookout for opportunities to collaborate with the industry as well as other academic institutions the world over. Innovation and research at the institute have been given a fillip with the establishment of Centres of Excellence in various areas ranging from Public Policy, Corporate Governance to Financial Markets and Risk Management. Two new research labs, one for Big Data and another for Behavioural Research, have been set up recently. The N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning is a catalyst for entrepreneurial activity and a well-known incubation centre for early start-up ventures.
IIM Bangalore also has a deep engagement with international networks, such as the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), which includes 28 top management schools around the world. This exclusive network is convened by Yale University and includes INSEAD, London School of Economics and Fudan University among others. In November 2015, IIMB hosted the Deans and Directors of the Global Network schools.
The US-based Academy of International Business, which is the world’s premier professional association for international business faculty, for the first time, held its Annual Meeting in India in June 2015 at IIM Bangalore.
The GNAM Week, featuring talks by eminent guest speakers and company visits, was held from March 14 to March 18, 2016 at IIMB.
Recognizing the tremendous power of disruptive technology, IIM Bangalore became the first IIM to partner with the world’s most respected Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform, the Harvard-MIT joint venture, edX. Till date, over 200,000 people from 185 countries have enrolled for our MOOCs.
Our efforts for strengthening our research and teaching have paid handsome dividends by enhancing our international reputation. Our PGP, Executive PGP and executive programmes are all very highly placed in global rankings by the Financial Times.
IIMB is the only Indian business school to feature among the Top 50 B-schools on the Financial Times Executive Education 2015 Rankings, alongside the London Business School, Harvard School of Business, University of Oxford and several others. IIMB has also been ranked among the Top 30 Business Schools in the world on the Financial Times’ prestigious Master in Management Rankings for 2015.
For the eighth consecutive year, in 2015, we have been ranked the best business school in Central Asia by Eduniversal, Paris.
IIM Bangalore has recently topped the list of best management institutes in the ‘India Ranking 2016’ – the first-ever national ranking of universities by the Government. The ‘India Ranking 2016’, prepared by MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), rated IIM Bangalore as the ‘Best Management Institute’ in India. All 122 centrally funded institutions, including central universities, IITS and IIMs, participated in the ranking. The survey listed top 10 universities, and engineering, management and pharmaceutical institutes of the country.
IIM Bangalore is also mentoring a new IIM at Visakhapatnam which started its operations in September, 2015. IIM Bangalore’s staff, faculty, students and alumni contributed significantly to building this new Institute with solid foundations, one that from the outset has the quality and feel worthy of an IIM.
A feature that sets apart IIMB from other B-schools is the carefully selected mix of students with diversity as a stated objective so that students can leverage from each other’s experience in addition to theoretical studies in the classroom, thereby creating a truly enriching learning experience. IIMB also has the largest Student Exchange Programme amongst all management schools in India with several partner universities across North America, Europe and Australia. As the global business scenario gets increasingly complex and dynamic, IIMB prepares students to manage and lead in such dynamic business situations by providing a diverse and challenging environment where they can learn, grow and emerge, ready to lead and inspire.
