বৰ্ষাৰণ্য গৱেষণা প্ৰতিষ্ঠান, যোৰহাট (ইংৰাজী: Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat) হৈছে উত্তৰ-পূৰ্বাঞ্চলৰ বনপালন বিদ্যাৰ গৱেষণা কেন্দ্ৰ। ইয়াৰ মুখ্য কাৰ্যালয় অসমৰ যোৰহাট জিলাত অৱস্থিত। পূৰ্বতে ইয়াৰ নাম ইনষ্টিটিউট অফ ৰেইন এণ্ড মইষ্ট ডেচিডিউয়াচ ফৰেষ্ট ৰিচাৰ্চ (Institute of Rain and Moist Deciduous Forest Research, IRMDER) আছিল। উত্তৰ পূৰ্বাঞ্চলৰ বনাঞ্চল বিভাগৰ উন্নয়নৰ বাবে ১৯৮৮ চনত ইয়াক স্থাপন কৰা হৈছিল। উত্তৰ-পূৰ্বাঞ্চলৰ ৰাজ্য অৰুণাচল প্ৰদেশ, অসম, মিজোৰাম, মণিপুৰ, মেঘালয়, নাগালেণ্ড আৰু ত্ৰিপুৰাৰ বনাঞ্চলসমূহ ইয়াৰ অন্তৰ্গত। বৰ্তমান ছিক্কিমৰ বনাঞ্চলো ইয়াৰ অন্তৰ্গত। ২০০৪ চনত বাঁহ গছৰ গৱেষণাৰ বাবে ইয়াৰ আন এটা শাখা মিজোৰামৰ আইজলত স্থাপন কৰা হৈছে।
ভাৰতবৰ্ষৰ বনাঞ্চল বিভাগৰ উন্নয়নৰ বাবে ডেৰাডুনত ১৯৭৬ চনত ৰিজনেল চেণ্টাৰ অফ ফ’ৰেষ্ট ৰিচাৰ্ছ ইনষ্টিটিউট, ডেৰাডুন (Regional Centre of Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun) নামৰ প্ৰতিষ্ঠানটো গঢ় লৈ উঠিছিল। ইয়াৰ সহায়ক হিচাবে উত্তৰ পূৰ্বাঞ্চলৰ বনাঞ্চল বিভাগৰ উন্নয়নৰ বাবে ১৯৮৮ চনত যোৰহাটত বৰ্ষা বন অনুসন্ধান সংস্থান, যোৰহাট স্থাপন কৰা হৈছিল । উত্তৰ-পূৰ্বাঞ্চলৰ ৰাজ্য অৰুণাচল প্ৰদেশ, অসম, মিজোৰাম, মণিপুৰ, মেঘালয়, নাগালেণ্ড, ছিক্কিম আৰু ত্ৰিপুৰাৰ বনাঞ্চলসমূহ ইয়াৰ অন্তৰ্গত। ২০০৪ চনত বাঁহ গছৰ গৱেষণাৰ বাবে ইয়াৰ আন এটা শাখা মিজোৰামৰ আইজলত স্থাপন কৰা হৈছে।
In order to have an adequate research back up for development of forestry sector in the northeastern region of the country, the Institute came into existence in April 1988, although its origin dated back to 1976 when a Regional Centre of Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun, was established at Burnihat (Assam) to extend knowledge on forestry related issues through research, education and extension in general and to support forestry research in northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. The Centre advanced steadily in terms of infrastructure and established itself as a nucleus for research on forestry and ecology related issues of the region. The ICFRE recognising the excellence of the Centre, upgraded it to a full-fledged Institute based at Jorhat in 1998, originally known as Institute of Rain and Moist Deciduous Forest Research (IRMDER). Now known as the Rain Forest Research Institute (RFRI), The Institute has evolved into one of repute, delivering yeoman service in the field of forestry resources and technology extension to all NE states including Sikkim. The multidisciplinary scientific manpower of the Institute delivers need based technological achievements in forests science leading towards conservation, protection, restoration and management of forest resources. The tested technologies, developed under different research projects, are transferred to the stakeholders through its Regional Capacity Building Programmes under Demo Village and Van Vigyan Kendras (VVKs) in the states. The headquarters of the Institute is located at Jorhat in Assam, while it’s Advanced Research Centre for Bamboo and Rattan has been established at Aizwal in Mizoram in the year 2004.
